Q: What is Battle of the Fans?
A: Battle of the Fans is an opportunity for San Diego music fans to have their favorite band open the “Free 4 All 2004” show @ Soma (Main Stage), Sept. 22nd. Once all band submissions are reviewed and evaluated by the Free 4 All production team, and the battle participants are chosen, the winner of the battle will be determined solely by fan voting. All submitting bands are also being offered an exclusive, complimentary music licensing package from Music 4 Media (will mailed to all bands after submission for the contest).
Q: How does my band sign up?
A: Signing up is easy. Simply fill out & submit the form below and then mail your band's press kit including bio, photo, and CD to the address found at the bottom of the rules and regulations page. Or upload your file by clicking here. NO TAPES PLEASE! Please check out the ‘Battle of the Fans Rules and Regulations’
Q: When is the deadline to sign up?
A: The deadline for band submissions is August 2nd at 11:59pm. No submissions will be accepted thereafter.
Q: How do I find out if my band has been selected to compete in the Battle of the Fans?
A: On August 4th 2004 all bands selected for competition will be listed here on the Battle of the Fans webpage. There will also be voting information and promotional materials made available for the fans to use in battle.
Q: How does the voting work?
A: Fan's may submit their votes by logging in online, starting August 4th. It is up to the fans to get active and promote their favorite bands to get the most votes. We will have a vote meter updated daily for all to see the current leaders of the battle. The deadline for voting will be September 1st 2004 at 11:59pm PST. The band with the most votes upon expiration of the deadline wins, THAT SIMPLE!! The winner will be announced on September 2nd here on the official Free 4 All 2004 website.

+The Official Rules of Battle of the Fans


NO PURCHASE IS REQUIRED TO ENTER

1. HOW TO ENTER: No purchase necessary to enter or win. Submit your bands press kit including bio, photo and CD (NO TAPES) or to the address listed below after submitting the above form. You may also upload your bands mp3 by clicking here. The Free 4 All Events staff will determine which bands will be competing in the Battle of the Fans upon expiration of the deadline. Submission begins on July 10th 2004 and will end on August 2nd 2004 at 11:59pm PST. No submissions will be accepted after the expiration date.
2. HOW TO WIN: This is where the promotion and street team efforts play a major role. The winner is selected by the fans who will cast their vote on the Free 4 All website for the band they most want to see open the show. The band with the most votes when the deadline reaches is the winner, THAT SIMPLE. The selected band will then get to perform live at the Free 4 All 2004 on Sept. 22nd @ SOMA (Main Stage). The winning band will be notified within 48 hours after the voting deadline with full details of when and where they need to be and with additional street team information. A valid phone number and email address is required in your band information entry.
3. VOTING: Beginning August 4th 2004, the name/logo of each band that is selected to compete in the Battle of the Fans will be posted on the official Free 4 All website for the general public to view. Fans will be encouraged to vote for their favorite band and to get others involved to vote as well. There will be a downloadable PDF flyer for the fans to print out and spread the word. The band that receives the most online votes will win and be awarded the opening spot. The deadline for voting ends September 1st 2004, at 11:59 p.m. PST. The Winning band will be announced Sept 2nd 2004 on the Free 4 All website.

 

+Legal Mumbo Jumbo

As used here, the term participant refers to each member of a band and the entire band collectively. Band members 17 years or younger that are selected to participate in the Battle of the Fans must furnish Free 4 All Events a notarized parental consent letter within one week of official battle participant announcement (August 4th). Participants contractually committed to any company providing major national and international distribution for their musical compositions are not allowed to enter. Free 4 All Events may use participant information for marketing and demographic purposes. By entering, participant agrees to be bound by these Battle of the Fans rules. Employees of Free 4 All Events and their immediate families are not eligible to participate. This contest is governed by and shall be construed under the laws of the State of California, USA. By entering, participant releases Free 4 All Events, their Directors, Officers, Employees, Representatives, Agents and Advisors from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from entry or participation, including but not limited to incidental, indirect, or consequential damages under any contract, negligence, strict liability or other legal or equitable theory, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limitation and exclusions may not apply to participant. By entering, participant agrees to abide by, and be bound by, all Free 4 All Events decisions relating to this contest, which are final and binding in all respects. Winning participants consent to the use of their name, likeness, prize information, and photographs without additional compensation for publicity purposes where not prohibited by law.
